Values
Evidence informed
Both what and how you’re taught about the breath matters. I’ve sought out Breathwork trainings informed heavily by science so that I can tell you the theory behind the practice. Where I don’t know the answer, I’ll always tell you and scour research to find out the answer to your questions.
Because my courses and workshops are designed to teach you to build habits and time is often limit, how I teach is important, and I use my PGCE in secondary education to make sessions engaging, interactive, clearly explained and outcome driven.
Students first
Whether you are taking one-to-one sessions, or joining a workshop a course, your health comes first, and your learning next. My training is trauma informed and holistic - I’ll view breath in the context of other modalities and ways you can improve your wellbeing. I care, and I’ll do my best to follow up and check in during sessions, and are always there to answer questions you have.
And how I handle your data matters to me too. I’ll need some data to communicate with you, and other data to get an idea of how your breathing is going (either through questionnaires or notes made during or after sessions). That information will only be used for the purpose of communicating with you or helping me to help you meet your breathing goals. Once we’ve finished working together I’ll remove any personal breathing related information.
Sustainable
spīra aims to reduce its impact on the environment as much as possible. The main way spīra impacts the environment is through trips to London and through booklet printing.
Because of the distractions technology can sometimes cause, I see huge value in booklets which help keep students’ focus on their learning and the breath and where possible use recycled paper to keep impact to a minimum. But if you’d like me to send booklets virtually do let me know.
Trips to London will be conducted primarily by public transport where possible.
